“The nature of the glassblowing process usually involves the creation of round forms, using a symmetrical glass bubble. Other media are not confined by these limitations, and I wanted to push the boundaries of shape and form within the hot glass process. My Stone sculptures are the result, developing a new technique to convert the “bubble” into an “envelope” of glass and manipulating this to achieve these asymmetrical forms.”
This large Stone sculpture is created in clear glass and has a red centre with turquoise “lightning” streak. The surface of the glass has been frosted.
